It’s been 5 months since we announced our plans for the Under the Stars Lavender Fields… and I love seeing the progress we’ve made. Originally, we hoped to host our Grand Opening in June (yes, June 2019) but after a very wet end of winter and beginning of spring, everything pushed! So… No, we aren’t as far as we hoped but we are making progress.
💜 The front entrance has been cleaned up and wood chips laid down (using resources from our property).
💜 We have the entrance sign partially complete (just looking for someone who could make us a 24×24 wood sign that won’t deteriorate in the elements).
💜 The design for the lavender field ceremony site is complete with a huge thank you to Trey Watford. (Check out his designs HERE)
💜 A path was made to get to our first field to make it easier to transport tools, lavender and people.
💜 We cleared our first small field without removing any stumps thanks to Daniel and James Gregg.
💜 100+ lavender plants are in the ground with care and no chemicals.
💜 The rain barrel system is coming along nicely (and I can’t wait to not have to hand water).
💜 A turn around area for our trailer was completed last weekend thanks to Michael and friend.
💜 The design for the pavilion is breathtaking (another Trey Watford design) and will be the perfect place for a ceremony or reception.
💜 We’ve met with the county a couple of times to make sure we are following protocol and bounce ideas around (Denise, Sean and Amy have been amazing to work with).
💜 Our first small harvest was a success, getting 13 bundles that we will be using for soaps and lotion in the coming weeks.
💜 We are super close to a name for our lavender product line… Can you guess what we are going to call it?
All in all – progress not perfection.
Some say I’m crazy for taking on this project… and that’s okay. I don’t mind living in the land of crazy if it means bringing joy to others through something we create, do or build. Take a look at the recent performance by Kodi Lee on America’s Got Talent. His bravery for trying something that others would have said was outside the realm of possibility is inspiring… heroic. He used his God given talent to bless others and a blessing it was.
It’s the little things in life that bring me joy and I am so thankful to be on this journey with Billy, Chris, Samantha, Michael and Jaxon 💜
Stay tuned… exciting things are around the corner at Under the Stars Farm – where dreams begin and the lavender grows!
